Your home candle business is growing - how exciting! Your sales are increasing, and so are your profits. That's exactly what you've been working so hard for, right? Then why is it that you're too tired to enjoy the fruits of your labors? As a home business owner, it's easy to work so much that you forget that you have a home.
If you want to have a successful home business and a healthy personal life, it's essential that you're able to separate the two. Sometimes that's easier said than done, however.
If you're making your own candles in your home, it's amazing how quickly candle production can take over your kitchen. When you start getting larger orders, it's not long before you've got your kitchen, dining room, living room and maybe even your bathroom (I speak from experience here!) serving as candle-packaging areas. That's bound to affect your family, who may not appreciate having their dinners delayed or forgotten altogether.
It's important to let your family know your plans before you start to really get involved in running your home candle business. If you can get them on board from the get-go, including them in the planning process and asking for their help before you start a candle business and things get too hectic, that will surely help prevent problems in the future.
On the flip side, your friends and family also must realize that you are working. People often think that if you're working from home, you're not really working. This makes them feel that they can drop it whenever they want to, or ask you to run errands for them. So you need to make it clear to all that you are working.
Establish a business routine, have regular operating hours, and let your friends and family know what they are.
Keeping your home candle business and your personal and family life as separate as possible may not be easy, but is absolutely essential for your own health and well-being, as well as that of your family and your home based business.
